A Political Rant

Forgive me for this post, but this is something I have to share.

I live in southern Arizona where, like parts of Texas and southern California, we have regular incursions over the border. Now, believe it or not, sometimes these incursions are in helicopters with armed Mexican military landing on private AMERICAN land. I haven't figured that out yet.

But the incursions I'm talking about right now are those of illegal immigrants, who consistently risk their lives by trusting in coyotes (smugglers) and walking through the desert without enough water. It's not uncommon for them to be stranded by the coyotes in the middle of the desert.

What I heard on the news last night, though, really frosts my cookie. An illegal who was picked up in California and deported 8 months ago because he was a sexual predator was just picked up again. This time, he's going to be thrown into prison so he'll be off the streets and unable to hurt anyone.

That's great, right?

Uh-uh. He's going to be tossed into an AMERICAN prison, where he'll get three square meals a day, free cable, and access to workout rooms and libraries and all the drugs he can snort.

Which means that I, as an American taxpayer, am footing the bill. 'Cause I'm relatively certain that we ain't gonna be billing Mexico.

Man, Vincente Fox must be dancing a jig. That's one way to cut expenses. Ship all your deviants to America, where they'll be housed for free. (Free to Mexico; not free to the U.S.)

I don't have a solution other than to ship his ass back to Mexico, where he'll just make his way back over the border again.

AAARRGH!

Sherrill, its okay to rant. It's amazing what we taxpayers have to go through. Since I live in California, I know exactly what you mean.

Rant away -- I agree with you 150%. I often shake my head in disgust at our prison system and all of the talk about prisoners' rights. Adding "illegal alien" to that criminal's title is more than the US should bear! Ugh! ~Su

Well, as I said, I just don't get it. Why should we put their criminals in our prisons? It just doesn't make sense.

I mean, it does from the standpoint that it'll keep guys like that off our streets, since he'll just find a way over the border again. But otherwise...

I used to want to visit Mexico, until I moved to Arizona. I mean, if people are literally dying to get out of that country, why the hell would I want to go into it?? As of October, 2005, over 450 illegals died in the desert. The Pima County morgue had to add refrigerated trucks to store the bodies because they ran out of room.

Vincente Fox needs to clean up his country and make it so his people want to stay there. You notice we don't get very many Canadians risking their lives to have it better...

You're absolutely right! When we have children living in cardboard boxes and can't attend school, I just want to scream at the illegals for using a huge portion of our tax dollars.

Our government won't ever stop the traficing. If I was conspiracy type person I'd say the Mexican government is paying a kickback for every illegal we keep.

Sherrill Quinn said...

Well, Sloane, I don't know if it's a conspiracy, but when the Mexican government hands out "how-to" brochures to their citizens...

They did. I'm not lyin'. How to illegally enter the U.S. and cross the desert safely.

Sheesh. With friends like that...

Unfortunately I don't even have a small spare room. I used to, before I sold my house. Not now.

Ya gotta love the liberals in any government. Let the terrorists back in the country because, wah, he got hurt being a bad guy. But he's one of ours, so let's spend government money on his care.

Don't

You know I was kidding about the conspiracy thing. Right? There's too many problems in my adled brain to add conspiracy. Anyway...

I didn't know there was actually a brochure on "moving" to the US. If you ever get a copy will you please post it?

Kate, there's a spare room and actually a spare house if you and your ever want to come on down. Just not sure if you want your children to attend a school system that ranks mighty low in our entire country.

Sloane, go to www.theamericanresistance.com, then add to the url:

/ref/brochure_translated_guia_del_
migrante_mexico.html

(I couldn't just cut and paste this--the url is too long to fit in this box.)

It gives a translated version of the booklet. Veerry interesting reading.

I just sliced the tip of my pinkie on a tuna can. Ouch. Now I have a big, bulkie bandaid on it (my finger, not the tuna can) and it's making it pretty difficult to type. Dammit.

Sherrill, honey... if anyone understands, it's me.

My father's property down in Sonoita was pretty much in the direct path of illegals. You could be sitting in the living room and watch people just WALK across the yard.

FYI... the border patrol added FIVE HUNDRED new agents in the last year, just to Southern Arizona alone. Pretty amazing stuff, isn't it?

A couple years ago, I was living up in Phoenix and two coyote bunches got into a shoot 'em up match down I-10. Three blocks from my house. I guess one coyote was trying to steal a "load" (bunch of illegals) from another.

And people complain about Bush's domestic spying? Well, WHY THE HELL NOT?! The Patriot Act is so weak that many Al-Qaeda linked criminals have made their way into the country... illegally, many thur Mexico's easy borders, I might add.

Grrr...

Sherrill Quinn said...

Landra Lynn, I have a friend of a friend who lives out past Picture Rocks in the Tucson area, and he has the same issue. Plus illegals getting into his water supply.

And you're right about the laxity of the border. Even with adding the 500 border patrol officers, though, it's still not enough. We've still got illegals coming through. And coyotes aren't going to care if the people they're smuggling are Mexican nationals or terrorists. Money is money.

Ahhh. That questioning spell was a short one. It's over now. lol ~Arizona-dreamin' Su

Su, you're not going to "see" much with illegals if you live in the cities. It's the folks that live out in the boonies that have them crossing their property, drinking water from their wells, etc.

And the benefits, as you know, far outweight the risks. Glad the "rethink" was such a short duration. :)

Thanks for the url. I'll check it out today.

My sister-in-law lives in south Texas, Weslaco. She has major problems with the illegals raiding her orange groves. Now that she's in her 80's, she's also plenty scared.

Sherrill Quinn said...

I don't blame her for being scared. While I've never heard of illegals hurting anyone, they damage property (mostly fences) trying to get across the desert or to water, or both. I'd be more afraid of the coyotes, myself. Which is why I live in a city and not a little blip of a town out in the middle of nowhere. I'm just too chicken.
