Bollywood Movie
I watched my first Bollywood movie last night--Jodhaa Akbar. It was a really good film, though because I did see it with my critique partners, we couldn't help but pick at it a little and do our usual version of Mystery Science Theater 3000 on it. It's the first foreign movie I've watched, actually, so of course you have to have subtitles on. But I didn't find that to be too distracting, other than the fact that they kept putting commas in where they weren't supposed to be. But I guess that's the writer in me, to notice (and be bothered by) stuff like that.
And you know me. The lead actor was HAWT, so that made sitting through the movie, even if it had been bad, a worthwhile endeavor. LOL
But in all seriousness, it was entertaining. And the costumes...! Gorgeous.
Jodhaa Akbar. Rent it.

Sherrill, didn't you know that once you become a writer, you can never read objectively again? It's a curse! I used to love reading certain authors and now... ruined! Can't even get through the first chapter with some of them! Crap.
Totally love Mystery Science Theater 3000! Especially the old space shows! lol
YouTubed Jodhaa Akbar and wow... I love watching shows from different cultures and I think if it had been in English, it would have taken away from the authenticity of it. I am totally going to look for this one! Thanks, Sherrill! :)
And your right, Hrithik Roshan is on fire! lol Just YouTubed him too... lol. o.O Go look at him outside of the film!!! Gah! Just sayin'...
Colleen, yeah, you're right. When it really sucks is when I know that whatever I've just read (or watched, if it's a movie) I know my critique group would never let me get away with.
I think you'll enjoy Jodhaa Akbar. It has it's moments of "eh?!?" but they're relatively few. If you rent it, you need to let me know what you think of it. :)
Oh, and Hrithik Roshan? There's at least one shirtless scene in the movie, so, yeah. Gah. LOL
